Looking for a house to rent in Lahore? Tell us the size (5 marla, 10 marla or 1 kanal), the area and your monthly budget. We shortlist houses that fit, arrange viewings, and tell you what to check in the agreement before you pay.
The 500+ figure counts commercial property clients helped with property finding. It is not a count of house rentals or deals completed. Rent and availability are confirmed property by property.
The short answer first. The sections below give the detail, the sources and the paperwork.
It depends mostly on size and area. In recent ads, a 5 marla house asks from about Rs65,000 in budget areas to Rs130,000 in DHA. A 10 marla house asks about Rs140,000 to Rs200,000. A 1 kanal house in Wapda Town is reported at Rs250,000 to Rs400,000.
These are asking rents, not final rents. Floors, age of the house, backup power and the exact block can move the price by tens of thousands.
Based on portal ads and one 2026 rent guide. Details and sources are in the table below.
A 5 marla house suits a small family. Choose 10 marla if you need four or five bedrooms. A kanal house adds a lawn and parking for several cars.
Pick by commute, school and budget. DHA is our home base. Bahria Town, Johar Town, Wapda Town and Lake City are common choices. See the area guide.
No law says you must use one. If you do, agree the commission in writing before the first viewing, and never pay before you see the house.
A written tenancy agreement, CNIC copies of owner and tenant, and tenant registration with the police. See agreement and registration.
Most tenants search by size first, so here is what each size usually looks like and what it asks per month. Use it to check whether a quote is in range.
| Size | Usual layout | Asking rent seen | What we saw |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 marla | 3 to 4 bedrooms, 3 to 4 bathrooms, TV lounge, drawing room, one car | Rs65,000 to Rs130,000 | About Rs65,000 for an older double storey house in Khayaban-e-Amin. Rs75,000 in Bahria Town Sector D and Rs78,000 in Shah Khawar Town. Rs100,000 in Lake City Meadows. Rs120,000 to Rs130,000 in DHA Phase 5 and DHA 9 Town. |
| 6 to 7 marla | 3 to 4 bedrooms, bigger lounge, often a small lawn or porch | Rs85,000 to Rs110,000 | About Rs85,000 for a 6 marla house in Paragon City. Rs110,000 for a 5 to 6 marla house in Gul-e-Damin. |
| 10 marla | 4 to 5 bedrooms, 4 to 6 bathrooms, often two kitchens, lawn, two cars | Rs140,000 to Rs200,000 | Rs140,000 to Rs150,000 in Bahria Town. Rs160,000 to Rs180,000 in Wapda Town. Rs160,000 to Rs200,000 in Lake City Meadows, higher for new houses with central heating and cooling. |
| 1 kanal | 5 or more bedrooms, large lawn, three or more cars, servant quarter | Rs250,000 to Rs400,000 | The range reported for Wapda Town depends on condition. DHA and Gulberg ask more. |
| 2 kanal and above | Large family house or a house used as an office or guest house | Rs400,000 and up | About Rs400,000 for 2 kanal in Wapda Town. A 2 kanal house in Gulberg was reported at about Rs1.1 million to Rs1.7 million, and a 4 kanal house in DHA Phase 8 at Rs1.3 million to Rs1.5 million. |

Choose the areas you are considering and they go into your enquiry. This is not a promise that a house is free in every area.
DHA is the area we know best. Phases differ in the age of houses, road width and distance from markets, so compare phases instead of treating DHA as one market. Recent ads for 5 marla houses in DHA Phase 5 and DHA 9 Town asked Rs120,000 to Rs130,000.
A press report put the average DHA house rent near Rs281,000 for March 2026. Kanal houses pull that average up. Ask about the block, solar or backup power, gas and parking. See furnished houses for rent in DHA Lahore.
Bahria Town is a gated society with parks, schools and its own security. A recent ad for a 5 marla house in Sector D asked Rs75,000, and a 2026 guide reports about Rs140,000 to Rs150,000 for 10 marla. The press report above puts the average near Rs165,000.
Rents vary a lot between sectors and between furnished and unfurnished houses. Check the distance to the main gate and to the road you will use to go to work. Also ask whether the maintenance charge is paid by the owner or the tenant.
Both areas are close to the Expo Centre, hospitals and big markets. The press report puts the average house rent in Johar Town near Rs224,000. In Wapda Town a 10 marla house is reported at Rs160,000 to Rs180,000 and a kanal house at Rs250,000 to Rs400,000.
The same area has very different streets, so check the exact block. Portions and flats cost much less than a full house. If you only need one floor, read about properties for rent in Lahore and flats for rent in Lahore.
These areas sit close to offices, hospitals and long-established markets. Gulberg was reported above Rs600,000 on average, because large houses and houses used for business pull the figure up. Smaller houses and portions cost far less.
If a house is rented for an office or a clinic, the lease and the permitted use change. For homes, see houses for rent in Gulberg Lahore. For shops and offices, see commercial property for rent in Lahore.
Planned societies offer newer houses and gated entry at lower rents than DHA. Recent ads asked about Rs100,000 for 5 marla and Rs160,000 to Rs200,000 for 10 marla in Lake City Meadows. A 6 marla house in Paragon City was reported near Rs85,000.
Always check the commute at your own working hours, and ask what the society charges for maintenance and security.
Six kinds of rental house you will see in Lahore ads, and the one question to ask about each.
Everything on one floor, easy for elders and small children. Ask about the roof and the damp in the ceiling.
More bedrooms on the same plot. Ask how the stairs are built and whether the upper floor is also rented out.
One floor of a house at a lower rent. Ask about separate meters and a separate gate. See properties for rent in Lahore.
Ready to live in, at a higher rent. Ask for a written list of every item and who repairs it. See furnished houses in DHA.
A stand-alone house with its own gate and no shared walls with another tenant. Ask about the street width and who owns the meters.
Some owners rent kanal houses to offices or clinics. Check that the use is allowed first. See commercial property for rent.

Two things protect both sides: a written, registered tenancy agreement and a tenant registration with the police. Rules and procedures can change, so confirm the current steps with a lawyer or the authority.
Under the Punjab Rented Premises Act 2009, a building is let through a tenancy agreement, which is presented before the Rent Registrar.
Under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Act 2015, the owner, tenant or property dealer registers the tenancy at the local police station or a Police Khidmat Markaz. Lahore Police describe it as free and done on the spot in about 15 to 20 minutes.
This is general information, not legal advice. For disputes, eviction or special terms, speak to a qualified lawyer. Useful sources:

It depends on size, area and condition. Recent ads ask about Rs65,000 to Rs130,000 for a 5 marla house, Rs140,000 to Rs200,000 for 10 marla, and Rs250,000 to Rs400,000 for a kanal house in Wapda Town. A press report put average house rent near Rs281,000 in DHA and Rs224,000 in Johar Town for March 2026.
Asking rents seen in 2026 range from about Rs65,000 for an older double storey house in a budget society to Rs120,000 to Rs130,000 in DHA Phase 5 and DHA 9 Town. New houses and houses with a good lounge and parking ask more.
Expect about Rs140,000 to Rs200,000 in Bahria Town, Wapda Town and Lake City. A 10 marla house in DHA usually asks more. Look at the number of bedrooms and the age of the house before you compare.
A 2026 guide reports Rs250,000 to Rs400,000 in Wapda Town, depending on condition. Kanal houses in DHA and Gulberg ask more. Some owners rent them to offices, so confirm the use that is allowed.
There is no single best area. Choose by commute, schools, budget and security, then compare two or three areas on the same size of house. For DHA, see furnished houses for rent in DHA Lahore. For Gulberg, see houses for rent in Gulberg Lahore.
Recent ads for 5 marla houses in Khayaban-e-Amin, Bahria Town Sector D and Shah Khawar Town asked Rs65,000 to Rs78,000, below DHA. Cheaper houses are often older or on narrower streets, so check the condition and the commute before you decide.
Yes. DHA is our home market. Tell us the phase, size and budget, and we will say plainly what we can find. Send your brief through the form on this page.
A portion is one floor, rented separately, usually at a lower rent. A full house gives you the whole building and its lawn or parking. For portions and flats, see properties for rent in Lahore.
No. You can deal with the owner directly. If you use a dealer, agree the commission amount in writing before the first viewing, and do not pay anything before you have seen the house and checked the owner's papers.
Yes. Under the Punjab Rented Premises Act 2009, a building is let through a tenancy agreement, which goes before the Rent Registrar. Ask a lawyer or the Rent Registrar's office about the current stamp and registration steps.
Under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Act 2015, the owner, tenant or property dealer registers the tenancy at the local police station or a Police Khidmat Markaz. Lahore Police list the CNICs of owner and tenant, the rent agreement, an affidavit and a photo of the tenant, and describe the service as free.
There is no single figure that applies everywhere. Advance rent and deposit are agreed between owner and tenant. Ask which part is adjusted against rent and which part is refundable, and write both in the agreement with the refund terms.
The agreement should say. Usually the tenant pays electricity, gas and water for the time they live there, while society maintenance can fall on either side. Clear old bills before you take over, and note meter readings on move-in day.
The agreement should state the rate of annual increase, so check it before you sign. Changing it later needs both sides to agree, or a legal process.
View the house in person, match the owner's CNIC with the ownership papers, never pay a token before viewing, and pay only to the person named in the agreement. A price far below similar houses is a red flag.
